The white, tall lighthouse tower was built in 1910 on the island of Ytterholmen, about southwest of Gåsvær. The lighthouse was automated in 2003. The flashing white light sits about above sea level atop the lighthouse and it can be seen for about . There is also a secondary light about halfway up the tower.
